I am an Intelligence Coordinator, which means that people talk to me about their experiences with health and social care services. This includes services that you use, such as the Doctor’s, the Hospital and the Dentist.
This information helps me to talk to people who can change the way that these health services work for everyone. This means that services can improve and be able to give better care, support and treatment for people like you and me.
-
My Typical Day:
I head out on my 6 minute train journey to the office. When I get in, I have a lovley catch up with my colleagues. I can then start on helping to improve health and social care services by listening to people’s concerns about their care. I’m really interested in mental health and what children and adults think about these services.

I hop on a 6 minute train to work every morning and then settle down with my large bowl of Cheerios at my desk. I have a nice catch up with my work bestie and then we crack on with our tasks.
I first check my emails to see if anyone needs any help with their research and talking to people about health services. Sometimes, they ask me for more information on certain areas, such as student wellbeing and using technology in healthcare.
I read the information that local people have sent through to us about the health services that they have used. I have a great chat with my team about how we can use this to help improve services for these people. I love chatting to my team, not only about work, but also about what flavoured donuts we will be getting at lunch time!
During lunch, my colleagues and I pop out to get some yummy food and some fresh air. We like walking to the Thames and watching the boats float by whilst picking up a cronut (croissant crossed with a donut) on the way.
In the afternoon, I read research reports that Local Healthwatch have written which describe people’s experiences of lots of different services. I write up what I have found from information I have read in the morning and the afternoon. I the post this on Facebook Workplace which is a social media platform that we use to discuss important issues.
After this, I pack up my laptop and head home, excited to cook an experimental evening meal and catch up on my favourite Netflix shows.

What I'd do with the prize money:
I want to support young people to learn about science in a fun and creative way. In particular, I think that young girls and children in less developed countries deserve to be given these opportunites just like everyone else.
