I hope not. But seriously I don’t think so. I think the main issue is how contagious it is rather than how deadly it is. If you look at the deaths in the UK they’ve mainly been older people with serious underlying health conditions rather than healthy people. So we need to protect the most vulnerable from catching it to prevent further deaths if possible but I think for most people it’s similar to getting the flu; so not pleasant but not life threatening.
I’m unsure how long it will take due to the long nature of drug trials. Scientists are working on a cure/vaccine for it but it all takes time. First of all they have to come up with a potential drug and test in cells in a petri dish to check for activity. Once they have found out that it is a potential cure they have to check for any unwanted side effects. There are usually 3 phases of trials in animals and humans to check it is safe before it is given to the world. This is needed to ensure it cures coronavirus and doesn’t do anything worse like cause cancer. In many drug cases this can take years and then the drug can fall at the last hurdle but I’m sure that something will be found relatively quickly in this case.
